A Dated Family Home Refreshed to Fulfill New Needs

A growing family like Clear Lake’s Kimbroughs needs more than a small, outdated space and cramped kitchen. They needed a home that let them come together as often as it let them spread apart. Our solution? Remodeling the kitchen, adding a full room, and replacing the exterior siding with something much fresher.

The Must-Haves We Made Happen

A Room Addition to Give the Family Much-Needed Space

A full room addition expanded the home’s functional living space, giving a growing household the room it had run out of.

White kitchen cabinetry installed with a window above the sink; herringbone brick floor anchors the space.

A Kitchen Where Crowding Wasn’t a Problem

Modern cabinetry and upgraded countertops replaced a kitchen that lacked storage, opening the space up for people-packed parties and family gatherings alike.

A Fresh Exterior to Match What’s Inside

New siding brought the outside of the home up to the same standard as the renovated interior, giving it a cohesive look from the curb.

A Layout That Finally Works

The reimagined layout improved the flow between living areas, so the home moves the way the Kimbroughs actually use it, day-to-day.

More Project Features

Herringbone Brick Pattern Flooring: We further updated the space with a herringbone brick pattern that flowed from the patio into the kitchen for added texture.

Updated Finishes and Fixtures: We installed new finishes and fixtures throughout the home to match the fresh feel of the kitchen and room addition.

Large, Energy-Efficient Windows: Large windows maximize the area’s natural light, opening up the space without making any structural changes.

Custom Built-Ins: We installed custom built-ins for extra storage with an integrated feel.

This Kitchen Wasn't the Problem. The Layout Around It Was.

What They Had

An outdated kitchen and poor storage added to the cramped home that the Kimbrough family was quickly outgrowing. The exterior hadn’t been touched, so it read as out-of-date to the modern upgrades they wanted within their home.

02

What We Saw

The house wasn’t short on square footage in the wrong places; it was lacking function in the right ones. The kitchen didn’t have the storage or layout to support the Kimbrough’s daily life, and the plain exterior wasn’t doing the rest of the home any favors from the curb.

What We Proposed

We worked with the Kimbroughs and a design professional to plan a full room addition alongside an open-concept kitchen rebuild, with new cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures to replace what no longer worked. We also suggested new exterior siding to help tie into the updated interior.

04

What We Drew

Using our talented team of designers, we created visuals of the expanded space so the Kimbroughs could envision mornings in the updated kitchen.

Their Family Home Now

The addition gave the Kimbroughs a functional living space they’d been missing, and the open-concept kitchen took the squeeze out of entertaining and everyday life. The new siding elevated the exterior to match the upgraded interior.

A Home That Finally Has Room for This Family

This room addition and kitchen remodel took a home you’d describe as looking outdated and feeling constricted, into a space with greater breathing room and hosting potential. The upgrades took a home worth saving and turned it into a home worth staying.
