A park in Webster, Texas, has been renamed Challenger Seven Memorial Park to honor the astronauts who died in the Challenger space shuttle explosion. The park was initially named after astronaut David Brown, but it has now been renamed to commemorate all astronauts who lost their lives on January 28, 1986, just 73 seconds after liftoff from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. All seven astronauts aboard were killed in the explosion. Information can be found here.
Challenger Seven Memorial Park is a beautiful tribute to those brave men and women, and their sacrifices mustn’t bet forgotten. It features a Challenger monument with the names of the fallen astronauts etched into it. There is also a playground and picnic area for visitors to enjoy.
